Adventure Time, probably one of the most popular shows on the Cartoon Network – ever, is being developed into an animated feature. You might know the story of Warner Bros. taking Finn and his friend to the big screen broke this spring, now we know a little more – maybe.

The animated fantasy adventure story has had many celebrity voices including George Takei, Pee-Wee Herman’s Paul Reubens, Neil Patrick Harris, and Andy Samberg. However the Adventure Time feature does not have any of these voices attached as of yet, actually no cast members are officially signed on. Actually nothing is official yet said Adam Muto, the show’s executive producer, at the recent New York Comic Con.  This is really a step back from where we were this spring.  But he also did confirm series creator Pendleton Ward is working on the “premise of it.”  Contrariety to some rumors Adventure Time the featured film is Not canceled.

Does that count as an update, I’m not sure.  In someways this is the most important news in other ways this is a story about nothing.  I guess a little like the show – which is everything and nothing all at once.

Adventure Time is an undeniable hit, now in it’s fifth year (seventh season). It continues to update and rework it appeal without cashing out on extreme plot twists. Ok the plots can get pretty bizarre but not for the sake of ratings to save a show. Adventure Time manages to keep us entertained in both a zany yet sophisticated way. And I think that will be the biggest challenge to conquer when Finn leaves the security of 30 minutes on a small screen. Eric Kohn wrote a great piece back in March looking at How Will an ‘Adventure Time’ Movie Affect the Show?
