King Kong part of the monsterverse coming to TV

King Kong: Skull Island the TV series is in the works as a modern day continuation of the movie’s story. According to sources including The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, the potential series has not yet been attached to any network – cable or premium.

The gigantic monkey will need to deal with a female lead  and a multicultural team that have landed (intentionally I believe) on Skull Island. What horrors, wonders, and adventures await this crew will be somewhat related to the WB Monster Universe, which is kicking off soon with The Mummy. Independent studio MarVista and IM Global TV will develop the series with Oscar nominated executive producers are Penner and Title.  Quoting MarVista “Jonathan and Stacy have taken a world that has enraptured audiences in all its many forms over the years and given it a contemporary, female-focused spin.”  Do females act differently to 100 foot tall monsters? King Kong Skull Island TV Series synopsis “a female-led, multicultural ensemble that delves into the wonders and horrors of Skull Island and its origins.”
