After a tumultuous period Valiant Comics was rebooted in 2012, dubbed the “Summer of Valiant” a landmark comic was re-released at this time called Bloodshot. Along with another property called Harbinger, Bloodshot and its success propelled Valiant back to relevance. A few years later in 2015 Valiant announced it had partnered with Sony Pictures to take five stories based on Bloodshot and Harbinger to film.

Originally created in 90s by Kevin VanHook and Yvel Guichet the series has been a fan favorite. Nintendo gamers might remember Bloodshot as an unlock-able character in Shadow Man. The 2012 editions earned Valiant several industry awards which probably drew Hollywood and Original Film’s attention.

John Wick director’s attached to the Bloodshot movie

The Bloodshot movie was originally set to be released in late 2017. So we have been expecting to hear some news or updates this winter. The comic book based movie was to be directed by David Leitch and Chat Stahelski from John Wick fame, based on a script by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) and Eric Heisserer (The Thing 2011). But no news about its progress makes us worried. John Wick crushing it sent the directors off to different projects lately, Atomic Blonde (which looks bloody awesome) and John Wick: Chapter Two. Hopefully they haven’t forgotten about our “hero.”

The Bloodshot Story

Bloodshot is a former soldier who has a very bad memory due to his synthetic modifications and that it has been intentionally wiped. Bloodshot’s key mod is a swarm of blood borne nannies or microscopic computers coursing through his body. The micro-machines now control Angelo’s body with access to his core they give him enhanced strength, reflexes, hearing, and healing – to name a few.

While Angelo was still all organic he was moving up the family ranks in the mob. But since his arrest and body adjustments (via an illegal experimental project of course) his focus it now on rebuilding his memories. Since his escape from prison his violent nature is on full tilt while he seeks answers and revenge.
